Private tuition in Mathematics - GCSE and A-level

About me

I have Grade As in both Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics as well as a 1st Class (Hons) degree from the University of London. I have provided private tuition now for the past 3 years and have received excellent feedback from both students and their parents on the support I have provided.

I have a very good understanding of the National Curriculum and I’m also familiar with the various syllabuses followed by the examining boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR etc). I am not a qualified teacher, although I have experience of working in both primary and secondary schools and an understanding of teaching theory having undertaken a PGCE course at University.

Approach to tuition

My approach is to work with students to understand areas of difficulty, overcome any conceptual misunderstandings and strengthen knowledge through continual practice. Lessons are interactive with an emphasis on confirming understanding of a topic before progressing to more challenging material. A key aspect to my approach is to improve confidence and self-belief. I have access to many resources, including past exam papers, which can be used to confirm students understanding of the subject material and track progress. I also use exam paper questions to help students gain confidence and understand how to maximise results and improve final grades.
